HURRICANE SANDY VICTIMS - Demands Barriers - Earmarked Federal Money for the MTA Transportation Hub in Zone A

Your efforts to rebuild should not be in vain.
HURRICANE SANDY VICTIMS - Demands Barriers - Earmarked Federal Money for the MTA Transportation Hub in Zone A

The MTA is planning a massive transportation Hub on Fulton Street in lower Manhattan.   How much of the connected structures would have been underwater with Hurricane Sandy.   One does not have to be a City Planner to know that a structure of the size of the transportation hub and possibly the above ground structures would have been unusable during events like Hurricane Sandy.   The Federal Stimulus money earmarked for the transportation Hub, should MTA be given the money and take a chance with a risky below ground complex in Zone A or should that money be refigured to provide water surge barriers of some type?   The money earmarked is not private money.   The thousands of people that will rebuild their homes and businesses in the same devastated regions today would be much better serviced by tidal surge barriers of some type.   The millions of passengers who use a future MTA transportation Hub will be better served by a system centered in Zone C somewhere in New York City, otherwise those who rebuild their homes and future passengers lose out.
